Greetings from the ASFS PTA

Welcome to 2020-21, ASFS! We invite you to introduce yourselves to our community with our Arlington Science Focus School Kudoboard. If you'd like, please share a photo, greeting, drawing, or video to kick off another great year, even virtually. Whether a summer vacation memory, your "first day of school" photo, or anything else, we'd love to welcome all of our families to ASFS!

Share Your Photos & Messages: Welcome to 2020-21, ASFS Kudoboard!

It was great to see so many families this week at our pick-up windows on Monday and Tuesday, and a special thanks to those who helped make it a smooth process and special event! Hope you have enjoyed meeting classroom teachers during your orientation sessions this week, and please continue to reach out anytime with questions, or any support we can provide as we all adjust to virtual learning to start the year.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, and great first day of school on Tuesday! --Dena Porter, ASFS PTA President

Stop by the ASFS Book Cabinet outside the front doors at ASFS for another way to enjoy free books for students, thanks to your donations. You may return your books, or donate new books in good condition (for Kindergarten-5th Grade) to the Returns Bin, so the books may be sanitized before we restock the cabinet. Technology Tips and Resources

Charles Harvey, ASFS ITC

Thanks to Mr. Harvey, our ASFS Information Technology Coordinator (ITC), see below for some helpful technology resources, troubleshooting links, and how to get assistance with IT and device issues during virtual learning at home:

For Tech Assistance

Parent iPad Guidelines: In order to save space on the iPad there should be no home videos or pics unless directed by a teacher. Do not install updates unless advised to do so by Mr. Harvey. Do not install apps from the APS App Store. Students cannot delete apps once installed and may run out of space. Do not set pass codes or use Non-APS logins to set things up in iCloud. Mr. Harvey will be remotely adding or deleting apps as required by teachers. If you need a password for a site required for homework please contact your student’s teacher.

One other known issue is that if the date/time and/or time zone settings are incorrect the iPad will experience connection and/or time out issues with Global Protect. Please check and reset as necessary.
