As much as we wish we could host our promotion ceremony at ASFS, we are so proud of all of our ASFS 5th graders, and congratulate each and every one of them and their families!

ASFS Virtual Variety Show

Even though ASFS students weren't able to enjoy the live variety show this year, thanks to Ms. Mintzer and Ms. Taylor for putting together a video of some of the tryout and 'recorded from home' videos for our ASFS community to enjoy!

2019-20 ASFS Yearbook Delivery Update

The 2019-20 ASFS Yearbooks have not arrived yet, due to the closing of the yearbook company during the COVID-19 shutdowns and the fact that we were supposed to be in school until June 19th. Once they arrive, we will develop a plan for distribution. Thank you for your patience!


Summer Science Activities & Ideas

Science Focus, summer is a wonderful time to continue investigating and exploring! Science is all about asking why, so I hope you never stop seeking answers to your questions! Here are some ideas to continue your science learning over the summer. Email Ms. Lin if you have any questions.

ASFS Garden Volunteers Needed for July/August 2020

Thanks to those who have been helping out with weeding our ASFS gardens this spring! We still need helpers for this July and August to keep our grounds beautiful during the hot summer months!

Click below to sign up for a week at a time to weed the front gardens and raised garden beds by the trailers. Come anytime during your assigned week as it fits into your schedule! A great way to spend time outside and support our school, and all instructions and supplies will be provided. Please contact Stephanie Lin with any questions.

ASFS Summer Reading Challenge

Join Arlington Science Focus School’s Summer Reading Challenge! We are offering two ways for your child to participate in the challenge. Your child can complete either the APS Summer Reading Choice Board, the Arlington Public Library Reading Log, or both. Both challenges with directions are attached to this letter or accessible using the links above. After your child completes one or both challenges, he or she will save their completed Choice Board or Reading Log to receive a prize in the fall. Need Books for Summer Reading? 

Books are available at Arlington Science Focus School! We have set up a new book cabinet with free book donations for K-2nd Grade and 3rd-5th Grade. Feel free to stop by to take a book or two for your summer reading!

To keep books sanitized, please do not return or add your own books to the cabinet. You may donate books in good used condition to one of our porch drop-off locations:

All ASFS students are invited to participated in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. The theme for the 2020-2021 program year is I Matter Because....

Donate Books for Arlington Families

Thanks to a collaborative effort with One More Page Books and Arlington PTAs, support new books for Arlington students at grab-n-go and other school sites with your online donations! One More Page Books will contribute an additional 5 books for every $100 worth of books purchased for this campaign.

Share Feedback on Distance Learning and Return-to-School PlanningAs APS works on planning for the return to school in the fall, share your feedback on your students' distance learning experiences during the school closures, and submit input on possible scenarios and contingencies for our return to school. Virtual Town Halls with the New Superintendent: The community is invited to a series of virtual town halls to ask New APS Superintendent Dr. Francisco Durán questions and learn a little about him. Additional virtual town halls are being scheduled for students and staff.

South Arlington Vigil & Call to Action - Saturday, 6/13

Delegate Alfonso Lopez, Black Parents of Arlington and Yolande Kwinana will be hosting a vigil at Drew Model School Field, to honor those who have died at the hands of police. Scavenger Hunt Sponsored by the Arlington Historical Society

Calling all Arlington residents. The Arlington Historical Society is launching a series of activities (#AHSLearning) to enhance Arlingtonians' knowledge of our community. For this first challenge, we have created two scavenger hunts: one for families and one for high schoolers and adults that requires a little research. AHS challenges you to head out and answer the clues. The scavenger hunts and directions can be found at this link https://tinyurl.com/AHSsleuth. Deadline for submission of your answer sheet is Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Winning entries will be placed in a drawing for a prize. Hope to see you sleuthing in Arlington!
