ASFS PTA Annual Spring Swap - Tuesday, 3/3

The ASFS PTA Green Committee's Spring Swap will take place Tuesday, March 3rd at 6PM in the Multipurpose room, right before the PTA Meeting.

Spring is early this year; time to clean out your gear!  Kindly drop off any gently used spring activity or sports gear you no longer need in the box at the school entrance lobby, or bring it with you when you stop by on Tuesday, 3/3 between 6-7pm. Then, stay for the PTA meeting at 7!

The swap is for stuff that goes along with any spring activities that need clothes or equipment like rain jackets, pants & boots, soccer, softball, baseball, LAX, hockey, dance, track, etc.  Anything from clothes to gear is welcome. You don't have to donate items in order to pick up items, but it's a great way to amp up spring cleaning if you have items lingering in your closets, garages, cars (under the bed!).  Send items with your kids or drop off on your stop at school. This is easy and low-key. Best of all, you walk out with some great items for free!

Thanks from the Green Team - saving us time, energy and $

Hasbro & Lego Toy Takeback Day - Saturday, 3/7

Spring Sustainability Hasbro & Lego Toy Takeback Day: Saturday, March 7th 9:30am-12:30pm

ASFS, Taylor ES, and Dorothy Hamm MS are partnering to bring you a great opportunity to recycle and reuse your well loved Hasbro toys and Lego bricks and mini figures. All you need to do is bring your Hasbro branded toys, like Mr. Potato Head, My Little Pony, and Beyblades (see the attached for a complete list of acceptable Hasbro toys) and/or Lego bricks and mini-figures to Taylor School's Music Room (enter through front lobby), 2600 N. Stuart St, Arlington, VA 22207, anytime between 9:30am and 12:30pm on Saturday, March 7th.  The Hasbro toys will be sent to TerraCycle for recycling (separated by composition (plastics, metals, organics) and processed into raw materials), and the Legos will be cleaned and re-used by APS library and technology programs. Give your old things new life! There is no cost to participate in this program - shipping is provided by Hasbro and Terracycle. Contact green@taylorpta.org for more information.

Volunteers Needed! We also need donations of flattened shipping boxes and volunteers to sort the toys and take them to the post office; children are welcome to participate.  If you can help, please click to sign up: Hasbro & Lego Toy Takeback Day Volunteer Sign-up
