Thank You for an Amazing ASFS Family STEM Night! We had over 500 parents and students in attendance on Wednesday night, including 35% of ASFS families!  What an incredible turnout, and wonderful to see so many teachers, parents, and volunteers supporting a fun event for the whole family to celebrate STEM together!  Read below for more thank-you's to the many people who helped make the night a success...

It's Important! Please complete the APS Your Voice Matters Survey by Friday, February 28th.

  • As of this week, the ASFS participation rate is under 6% - there are only 2 weeks left to provide your feedback on safety, health and well-being, voice, and engagement (more details can be found here).
  • Look for your personalized survey link sent from Panorama Education, the survey vendor.  The first email was sent on January 13th, and reminders will continue to be sent to families who have not yet completed the survey.
  • If you need the survey to be re-sent to you, you can email support+arlingtonva@panoramaed.com to request your personalized survey link.

Art in the Classroom: Volunteers Needed

Art in the Classroom is a PTA program designed to increase the exposure of visual arts. Parent volunteers lead an hour-long workshop providing a quick background about the artist and also leading a fun, hands-on art project with the students. It’s a fun way to engage with students in the classroom. No experience or previous knowledge of art is necessary! The PTA provides project guides and art supplies. For more information please visit https://www.asfspta.com/PTA/art/index.html.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child's classroom teacher to schedule your workshop. If you have any questions, please contact the ASFS Art in the Classroom Coordinator, Olga Kasyan.

ASFS PTA Annual Spring Swap - Tuesday, 3/3

The ASFS PTA Green Committee's Spring Swap will take place Tuesday, March 3rd at 6PM in the Multipurpose room, right before the PTA Meeting.

Spring is early this year; time to clean out your gear!  Kindly drop off any gently used spring activity or sports gear you no longer need in the box at the school entrance lobby, or bring it with you when you stop by on Tuesday, 3/3 between 6-7pm. Then, stay for the PTA meeting at 7!

The swap is for stuff that goes along with any spring activities that need clothes or equipment like rain jackets, pants & boots, soccer, softball, baseball, LAX, hockey, dance, track, etc.  Anything from clothes to gear is welcome. You don't have to donate items in order to pick up items, but it's a great way to amp up spring cleaning if you have items lingering in your closets, garages, cars (under the bed!).  Send items with your kids or drop off on your stop at school. This is easy and low-key. Best of all, you walk out with some great items for free!

Thanks from the Green Team - saving us time, energy and $

Hasbro & Lego Toy Takeback Day - Saturday, 3/7

ASFS, Taylor ES, and Dorothy Hamm MS are partnering to bring you a great opportunity to recycle and reuse your well loved Hasbro toys and Lego bricks and mini figures. Give your old things new life! There is no cost to participate in this program - shipping is provided by Hasbro and Terracycle. Contact green@taylorpta.org for more information.
