  • What a great ONE T.E.A.M. Hands to Hearts ASFS Community Service Week! Wonderful to see all of the kids helping others through their grade-level service projects this week.
  • Thanks to everyone who joined us for our visit with ASFS School Board liaison, Monique O'Grady, on Tuesday night for a good discussion on elementary planning.
  • Missed the February 4th ASFS PTA Meeting? Click to read the draft meeting minutes for the highlights. Congratulations to Ms. Lewis' 4th grade class for earning an extra recess for having the highest parent attendance!
  • Make sure to read the latest issue of the ASFS Electric News - February/March for news and updates from Ms. Begley & Ms. Jones, and all of the ASFS grade-level and special area teachers.
  • Finally, two important votes at last night's Arlington School Board meeting: The School Board approved the Superintendent's Recommendation for the 2020-21 School Calendar and to move forward with Proposal 1 for Elementary School Planning, where the Key site will become a new neighborhood school in the fall of 2021. Thank you again to our ASFS community for providing your support for more urgently needed seats in our area, and we will continue to work together as APS begins the next phases of this process.

ASFS Special Education & SEPTA News

Art in the Classroom: Volunteers Needed

Art in the Classroom is a PTA program designed to increase the exposure of visual arts. Parent volunteers lead an hour-long workshop providing a quick background about the artist and also leading a fun, hands-on art project with the students. It’s a fun way to engage with students in the classroom. No experience or previous knowledge of art is necessary! The PTA provides project guides and art supplies. For more information please visit https://www.asfspta.com/PTA/art/index.html.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child's classroom teacher to schedule your workshop. If you have any questions, please contact the ASFS Art in the Classroom Coordinator, Olga Kasyan.
