PTA News: This Week at ASFS

Thank you to our entire school community for an amazing 2019 ASFS Auction on Saturday night! It was wonderful to see so many parents and teachers having fun and celebrating our school together. THANK YOU to Kristi Tsiopanas and the entire auction team for organizing and hosting such an incredible evening. Kristi, we can't thank you enough for all you do for ASFS!

And a huge thanks to all of our families for showing so much support for our school, whether donating or bidding on items to benefit ASFS and our students, volunteering your time and talents, or just coming to enjoy a night out together. We are so fortunate to have such a generous community. Please see below for more Auction Appreciation and other details.

Coming up, hope you can join us for our March PTA meeting this Tuesday, March 5th at 7:00pm. ASFS 1st/2nd grade teachers Ms. Cherubim, Ms. Pollard, and Ms. Worley will be sharing an Overview of Responsive Classroom - such a valuable program for our students, and there is much for us to learn and take away as parents, so please come to learn more and get your questions answered.

In APS news, the Superintendent has released the Proposed APS FY 2020 Budget. You can watch the February 28th School Board Meeting and Budget Work Session to view the presentation. Details can also be found in the APS School Talk Message from the Superintendent, and FY 2020 Budget Presentations. It will be important to stay engaged throughout this process, especially as there are impacts to ASFS.

Prospective PTA Board/Chair Reception - Tuesday, March 5th

Interested in serving in a leadership role as part of the PTA? The PTA is hosting a Prospective PTA Board/Chair Reception on Tuesday, March 5th from 6:30-7:00pm in the Library before the March PTA meeting. Whether you might like to take on a PTA Committee Chair position in 2019-20 or are thinking about potential opportunities for future years, come to get your questions answered. ASFS parent volunteers are what make our PTA programs and events so successful, and we truly could not host the activities and initiatives that we do without your support.

Free child care will be available beginning at 6:30pm in the gym, and thanks to The Silver Diner for providing delicious sandwiches for the reception. Hope to see you there!

ASFS PTA Proposed Bylaws Amendment

As discussed at the February PTA meeting, the ASFS PTA has proposed the below amendments to our current ASFS PTA Bylaws to remove the VP Transition from the ASFS PTA Executive Board, now that we have confirmed there will be no need for this role during the 2019-2020 school year.

Please click below to view the two proposed amendments to remove the VP Transition from the ASFS PTA Executive Board. We will review these documents at the Tuesday, March 5th PTA Meeting, and the PTA membership will vote on these two proposed amendments at the Tuesday, April 2nd PTA Meeting. Please contact Dena Porter or any of the PTA Executive Board members with any questions or feedback - thank you!
