PTA News: This Week at ASFS

Thank you for an incredible ASFS STEM Night this week, and to so many ASFS families for coming out to participate in one of our biggest family events of the year!  A huge thanks to ASFS Investigation Station lead teacher, Ms. Stephanie Lin, for coordinating such a wide variety of fun and educational challenges and hands-on activities for the kids and making the evening so special for our ASFS families.  A special thanks to the ASFS Robotics League teams for their demonstrations, to the ASFS teachers who provided their support for the evening, and for the many ASFS parents who volunteered with set up, clean up, greeting, and hosting the stations around the school.  We could not hold these special events without all of you, so THANK YOU!

It was also great to see so many parents attend our February 14th Valentine's Day Parties in each of the classrooms.  Thank you very much to ASFS Room Parents for your hard work to coordinate such a fun afternoon for the kids!

In APS News this week, a few key links to take note of:

ASFS Community Service Week ONE T.E.A.M. Hands to Hearts

We wrapped up the week with 4th & 5th grade projects making no-sew blankets with their hands to fill the hearts of rescue animals at Lost Dog and residents of Cherrydale Health and Rehabilitation Center. The students enjoyed making these adorable blankets probably as much as they will be enjoyed by the receivers!

Without these volunteers, ASFS Community Service Week would not have been successful...

Julie Abizaid, Jennifer Berenbaum, Besian Bocka, Eveline Broderick, Annette Pettersson Brown, Lindsey Englerth, Sarah Kim Fox, Divya Gupta, Ms. Hall, Kris Humphrey, Rabia Obenadi, Dena Porter and so many more who gave over 100 HOURS collectively of their precious time. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

ASFS Student Raffle - February 19th-22nd

Next week (2/19-2/22) students can participate in the fun surrounding the auction through the ASFS Student Raffle. Every student will receive 10 free raffle tickets from their teacher. Please tear them apart and put your students last name and teacher on EACH ticket. (You don’t need to keep any tickets.) There will be many chances to win and different prizes offered every day. Click to view the complete list of raffle prizes (also on the flyer attached to the tickets). Students can play in the morning from 8:30-8:55am in the atrium. Ms. Hall will have the cans in her office during the school day if your student can’t make it in the morning. Free to contact Tara Bibb or Kirsten Mallonee with any questions. GOOD LUCK!
