PTA News: This Week at ASFS

Wishing all of our ASFS families a wonderful holiday season filled with peace and happiness!

A special thank you to our ASFS teachers and staff for all they do for our school and community - we are so grateful for such an amazing team. Also, a huge thanks to ASFS Room Parents for your coordination of the classroom Global Celebration festivities, teacher holiday gifts, and supporting our students and teachers throughout the school year.

Safe travels to all, and hope you enjoy your holiday break and time to relax with family. Look forward to a great year in 2019! --Dena Porter, ASFS PTA President

No-Frills Fundraiser 2018 -- It's not too late!

It’s not too late to donate! We know that the No-Frills Fundraiser schedule doesn’t always line up with everyone else’s schedule. No worries! We welcome donations at any time -- either online or drop a check in the office.

If you’d like to donate over break and receive a 2018 receipt you can either:
* Donate online at https://www.asfspta.com/donate and you will receive an email receipt immediately. (FYI, Internet Explorer has been having issues. Please use other browsers.)
* Or, Kristi Tsiopanas will be around through winter break and is very happy to receive checks and send receipts. Email her at ktsiopanas@gmail.com to coordinate.

All email receipts for donations made by 12/21 should go out by 12/23. Please contact Kristi if you still need one!

Finally, a huge THANK YOU to all of our families who have donated! You have made a huge impact! As of yesterday, 28% of our families (147 of 520) have donated over $30k, closing in on last year’s $35k. Amazing!!

ASFS Global Celebration is TODAY!

ASFS PTA Directory: Use of Parent Email Addresses

There have been a number of recent incidents that have caused concern in how parent email addresses in the ASFS PTA Directory are being used at the classroom level. The purpose of the email lists is to keep our classroom parents informed about events and opportunities for volunteering in the classroom. At no time, should these emails be used to talk about a particular student, behavior, or staff. If you have a concern, first share this with the teacher and then with Principal and Assistant Principal. We teach our students to be responsible and kind in their words and actions and we ask that all parents follow these same guidelines and especially when we talk about electronic communication. Our goal is work collaboratively and kindly to creates environments of respect and learning. Please help us to achieve this goal.  If you have any questions or comments, please speak with Ms. Begley.

2019 ASFS Auction

Save the date for:

2019 ASFS Auction
In Roaring 20s Style

Saturday, February 23, 2019
7-11 pm
Clarendon Ballroom

The ASFS PTA invites staff, families, and friends for a fun night out to support our school. The auction is an adult-only event and our school’s primary fundraiser of the year. Tickets for the auction are purchased in advance. We will have food, drinks, casino games, and more! The event is a great opportunity for you to socialize with other parents and staff while also helping raise money to benefit our students’ education.

There are many ways for each of our ASFS families to ensure the success of the event this year:

Volunteer — We need help planning this fun night. Please contact Kristi Tsiopanas if you are interested in joining our team. There are many ways to help, big and small. Some key open roles are:
> Donations Team
> Auction Website Team

Host a Parent Party — Let the party continue! Some of the most fun auction items are the Parent Parties, parties hosted by groups of ASFS families. Find a few friends and co-host a dance party, a movie night, private chef, poker night, wine tasting, or really anything! Many memories have been built from the Parent Parties!

Get the Goods — We are looking for desirable, unique and high-quality donations of all sizes and are asking EVERYONE to think through their entire network of family, friends and colleagues – anyone you know that might have access to popular and/or creative auction items. Do you know someone with a vacation home who is willing to donate a week or weekend? Sports tickets? Unique experiences like a behind-the-scenes tour? Don’t be afraid to solicit beyond local businesses! If you want to be part of the donations team or have a business in mind, email us so we can make sure there are no redundancies, and so we can support you with a procurement package.

Look for more details after the break! Don't hesitate to contact Kristi Tsiopanas if you have any questions/comments/ideas!

All eFF submissions must be received by Eveline Broderick by noon on Wednesday. All content will be subject to approval by ASFS administration and the PTA.
