ASFS Costume Swap & Supper! Friday, 10/12, 6-7:30pm

Join us to celebrate autumn, community & National Costume Swap Day! ASFS Green Team’s annual event will take place in the Multipurpose Room. Have a costume that no longer works for your kid(s)? It could be perfect for someone else! Look for the box next to the office (under staff photos) where we’ll collect costumes, or even costume pieces until the 12th when you join in for the fun!  We’ll have music, dancing and fall-themed activities while kids search for their new-to-them costume. Think of the money saved, plus the resources that go into making all those new costumes! Bonus: ASFS t-shirts will also be on sale at the swap!

Worried about dinner? Never fear, the Big Cheese food truck is here (again)! If gluten & dairy are more frightening than those scary costumes, check out the vegan soup offerings - yum! Big Cheese Food Truck's Menu

*You do not have to have donate a costume to get a new one. Everyone is welcome - the more the merrier! Costumes need to be clean and in good condition. All sizes welcome! We know you'd love to help with games. Email Amy/Sylvia with questions and availability. See you Friday, October 12th from 6:00-7:30pm.

Donate to ASFS No-Frills Fundraiser

Thanks to your generosity, the No-Frills Fundraiser has now raised over $15,000! These funds, along with our other fundraising programs this fall, have brought us to 20% of our total 2018-19 fundraising goal. If you haven't already, donate today to support our school! Please contact Kristi Tsiopanas with any questions.

Top Ten Reasons to Donate to No-Frills

  • #10 - It’s fast; just return this form with a check to the ASFS office.
  • #9 - Or even faster: you can donate online
  • #8 - It’s easy; no need to sell wrapping paper to your neighbors.
  • #7 - Your donation is 100% tax-deductible.
  • #6 - Your employer may match your gift.
  • #5 - It requires almost zero volunteer time.
  • #4 - We are hoping for 100% participation. No donation is too small — or too big!
  • #3 - 100% of your donation goes directly to ASFS, not to an outside vendor.
  • #2 - We can spend the rest of the year focusing on our kids instead of fundraising.
  • #1 - It enables all of the great programs and events we have planned this year to support our kids!

Volunteer Day - A HUGE shout-out to Hanover Research!!

Hanover Research came out en mass to lend a hand in beautifying ASFS grounds on Tuesday, October 2nd, during their Week of Community Service. We are so fortunate to have a local organization that supports community service! These 20 folks, along with parent volunteers, worked through the heat of the day to repaint all the blacktop games, handrails, benches, string sun catchers and lots of yard work. The students really enjoyed seeing the work-in-progress and as some were passing by offered color choices for the blacktop games! Please take a moment to look how their hardwood paid off!

A special thanks to Ms. Lin who reorganized her schedule to guide a landscaping group throughout the afternoon as well as Rob Shelton, an ASFS parent, who worked tirelessly on cleaning up the plant beds.

Art in the Classroom: Volunteers Needed

Art in the Classroom is a PTA program designed to increase the exposure of visual arts. Parent volunteers lead an hour-long workshop providing a quick background about the artist and also leading a fun, hands-on art project with the students. It’s a fun way to engage with students the classroom. No experience or previous knowledge of art is necessary!

Each classroom needs classroom volunteers to teach workshops each month as well as a classroom coordinator to coordinate the schedule. The PTA provides project guides and art supplies.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child's classroom teacher to schedule your workshop. If you have any questions, please contact the ASFS Art in the Classroom Coordinator, Kristi Tsiopanas.
