PTA News: This week at ASFS

ASFS Families, hope you are looking forward to the first day of school on Tuesday, September 4th! Look for your teacher's sign to gather by classroom and give your child(ren) a big send off outside on the blacktop as they parade into the building at 9:00am when school begins, and then join us for a cup of coffee at the PTA table.

At 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 4th we invite all new families to the Library for a ASFS New Families Reception, followed by the September PTA Meeting at 7:00pm. Hope to see you there!

With so much information at the beginning of the year, feel free to reach out with questions - email the PTA Board Members, join the Buddy Program, or check out the ASFS PTA Website.

THANK YOU!

Our ASFS lemonade stand was a huge success this past weekend at the Market Commons Clarendon “Chill Out” event! We raised $112 for the PTA, but most importantly it was wonderful to see everyone working together as a community. From making decorations, homemade lemonade, marketing, working the cash register to serving customers, the kids (and adults) had a great time!! Thank you to all that supported and helped our family-friendly fundraiser!

ASFS Family Buddy Program

We are excited to announce our new ASFS Buddy Program to connect new families with returning families. Getting started at a new school can be overwhelming. The goal of the ASFS Buddy Program is to ease that transition and help new families meet others, have a resource for questions, and just get better acquainted. This program promises to be a lot of fun, and not demanding, of your time. If you are a new ASFS family and would like to sign up, please click below:

Sign up for the ASFS Family Buddy Program

If you are a returning ASFS family interested in serving as a buddy or have any questions about the program, please email Jennifer Bethel. For additional details about the program, take a look at the flyer below:

APS Updates

APS held a work session on Tuesday, 8/28 to discuss the Elementary School boundary process. You can watch the meeting here, and view the full presentation here. At present, ASFS is no longer being considered in the Fall 2018 boundary process. Instead, ASFS and Key will swap buildings in either 2020 or 2021. This move may also include some boundary changes, but we do not have any other details at this time.  A timeline related to the swap will be published in January 2019. Please visit the APS Updates page on the PTA website for the latest updates as they relate to ASFS. Contact PTA VP External Affairs Kate Merrill with any questions.
